Going to Loro Parque
in the morning
The Loro Parque is a private thematic park located on the north side of the island, in El Puerto de la Cruz.
It was opened in 1972 with thirteen thousand squared meters, and now it has one hundred thirty-five thousand squared meters.
Initially, the Loro Parque had only parrots from different species, but then other animal species were brought.
Now, there are twenty different animal species, like alligators, tigers, dolphins, sea-lions, killer-wales, penguins, etc.
The Loro Parque has recreated the natural habitat from each animal, so we visit the frozen South Pole, the tropical jungle, a garden of cactus, orchids and Macarronesia trees.

In 1994 the Loro Parque Foundation was set up to protect the most threatened habitats on the planet, with 4 actions lines: Preservation, Research, Education and Breeding. They are currently carrying out projects in 28 countries throughout the world helping to protect endangered species, and they maintain the largest, most diverse parrot collection of the world. As a final curiosity, I have to say that the Loro Parque’s owner actually lives inside the park.
Visiting La Laguna city
in the afternoon
A group of students from La Salle La Laguna school, actually at 4th grade of Secondary level, performed for us like the old Spanish times to show us the town center, which became Human Heritage by the UNESCO in 1999, so we could see its most emblematic streets and buildings.

Great fun at the Siam Park
What if I told you that the biggest water park in Europe was built in Tenerife?
Siam Park holds five Guinness Records for different reasons. Building its impressive structure and attractions was a tough work which required much more time than expected, and even a famous Discovery Channel show called “Extreme engineering” aired in 2008 a special episode about all the issues which had to be solved to open this iconic park.
Inspired by Thailand and its culture, Siam Park is full of beautiful buildings and monuments, which give the experience a magical touch. 700 thousand liters of water are desalinated every day in order to feed racing slides and pools, and it is finally reused watering the gardens.
To be continued...
